Job summary

North Central Missouri College seeks a diligent faculty member to teach Behavioral Health Support and Psychology courses at the Savannah Campus. This nine-month, tenure-track position requires delivering quality instruction and advising students while advancing program goals.

Responsibilities include teaching at least 15 credit hours per semester, maintaining professional standards, collaborating with colleagues, and contributing to division committees.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Counseling or Psychology as specified.
• 18 hours of graduate credit in Counseling and/or Psychology.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Strong communication and confidentiality skills.

Position Summary: Provide academic instruction for Behavioral Health Support and Psychology courses.

CLASSIFICATION: Faculty
DEPARTMENT: Academic Affairs; Division of Math, History, Science, Social and Behavioral Sciences
REPORTS TO: Dean/Director of Savannah Campus
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
FULL TIME/PART TIME: Full-time, permanent, 9-month contract, tenure track
SHIFT: Day shift, weekdays
LOCATION: Savannah Campus

Essential Functions: Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to

• Advance student learning through exemplary instruction in accordance with established course learning objectives.
• Teach a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs.
• Demonstrate commitment to student success through the assessment of student learning.
• Continuously improve instructional quality by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods to ensure desirable student learning outcomes.
• Provide access to students by posting office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods.
• Establish annual objectives to include personal and professional growth plans.
• Provide academic advising for Behavioral Health Support students.
• Effectively collaborate with adjunct and dual credit instructors, as needed, while also identifying and recommending employment of adjunct faculty.
• Develop and maintain alliances with appropriate constituencies and institutions to support recruiting and job placement of students, and to stay connected with the behavioral health community.
• Coordinate Behavioral Health Support course offerings in collaboration with college officials.
• Participate in division and college committees.
• Maintain current knowledge in subject-matter as well as effective teaching and learning strategies.
• Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Education: A Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, a Master’s degree in Psychology, or a Master’s degree in a related field with 18 hours of graduate credit in Counseling and/or Psychology.

Experience: Teaching experience is preferred.

Skills: Proficient in MS Office 10. Ability to build relationships and maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Proven organizational, analytical and time management skills displaying initiative when completing tasks. Must have the ability to work with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

Physical Demands: Moving about in buildings and on the NCMC campuses; reaching, pulling, and pushing when performing office duties; remain stationary at a desk for extended periods while working on a computer and answering phones. Teach in a classroom setting for extended periods.

Environmental Demands: Fluctuations while moving on tile and carpeted floors in a heated and air conditioned environment.
