The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, seeks an Autism Evaluator for the Coastal Autism Evaluation Office in Summerville, SC, to conduct comprehensive ASD eligibility assessments for all ages.

Under supervision, you will perform screenings, cognitive and diagnostic evaluations, and record reviews, then participate in staffing of complex cases while maintaining detailed reports and compliance with

Qualifications

• Licensed Psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) or Developmental Pediatrician with specialized ASD experience.
• Must be licensed in South Carolina prior to hire.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder assessments and screening measures.
• Ability to prepare comprehensive evaluation reports.

Responsibilities

The position for this posting is based at the Coastal Autism Evaluation Office - Coastal Regional Center in Summerville, SC

Under the general supervision of the Team Lead, complete review of referrals submitted for OIDD Eligibility. Eligibility determination consists of completing/conduct Autism Spectrum Disorder screenings/assessments, diagnostic and cognitive assessments, record reviews, and staffing of cases that are diagnostically complex or challenging.

• Conducts comprehensive assessments of individuals seeking Autism Spectrum Disorder eligibility (all ages).
• Conducts record reviews, re-evaluation assessments, appeals, and emergent/crisis evaluations of individuals seeking Autism Spectrum Disorder eligibility.
• Proactively researches and engages in educational opportunities and skill-building activities to foster personal and professional growth.
• Participates as a team member and provides back-up assistance to other staff/teams.
• Completes other duties as assigned.

BHDD-OIDD is a part of the state's behavioral health and developmental disabilities agency, providing services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health conditions and substance use disorders through a wholistic, streamlined and coordinated approach. OIDD assists in the planning, developing, coordinating, and funding of services for South Carolinians with the severe, lifelong disabilities of intellectual disability and related disabilities; autism spectrum disorder; traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury; and similar disability.

Licensed Psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) or Developmental Pediatrician with at least two (2) years of specialized experience. Must be licensed in South Carolina prior to hire.

A valid Driver's License. Training and experience with various evaluation and screening measures-cognitive, adaptive, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), etc. Current working knowledge/understanding of ASD and specific experience, training, and specialization in ASD services. Effective communication skills, verbal and written, and the ability to work cooperatively with families, professionals, and the public.

Knowledge of psychological, educational and developmental needs of individuals with ASD. Knowledge of clinical supervision in ASD cases. Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to community social service programs. Knowledge of specialized needs in education and treatment for individuals with ASD. Ability to present clear and comprehensive oral and written reports. Ability to identify and effectively utilize resources available in the community to accomplish individual objectives. Ability to organize and maintain an appointment case load as necessary. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to prepare a comprehensive individual evaluation based on initial interviews, standardized test batteries, follow-up interviews and individualized tests.

All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.
