Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, seeks a Licensed Psychologist (Ph.D or Psy.D) or LPES with ASD specialization to join Coastal Regional Center.

The LPES/Psychologist will review referrals for eligibility, conduct ASD screenings and cognitive assessments, prepare reports, and collaborate with families and professionals to support long-term wellness.

Qualifications

• Licensed psychologist or LPES with SC license and 2+ years of ASD-related experience.
• Training with ASD evaluations and cognitive/adaptive assessments.
• Strong written and verbal communication with families, professionals, and the public.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Director of ASD Clinical Services, the LPES/Psychologist will complete review of referrals submitted for BHDD-OIDD Eligibility. Eligibility determination consists of completing/conducting Autism Spectrum Disorder screenings/assessments, diagnostic and cognitive assessments, record reviews, and staffing of cases that are diagnostically complex or challenging.

• Conducts comprehensive psychological assessments/testing reports of individuals seeking ASD OIDD eligibility.
• Submits completed resolution reports within ten (10) business days
• Proactively researches and engages in educational opportunities and skill-building activities to foster personal and professional growth.
• Participates as a team member and provides back-up assistance to other staff.
• Other duties as assigned.

BHDD-OIDD is a part of the state's behavioral health and developmental disabilities agency, providing services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health conditions and substance use disorders through a holistic, streamlined and coordinated approach. OIDD assists in the planning, developing, coordinating, and funding services for South Carolinians with the severe, lifelong disabilities of intellectual disability and related disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury and similar disability.

This position is located at Coastal Regional Center, in Summerville, SC.

Licensed Psychologist (Ph.D or Psy.D), Developmental Pediatrician, or Licensed Psycho-Educational Specialist (LPES) with at least two (2) years of specialized experience with license to practice in the State of SC or be a LPES as defined by the SC Department of LLR.

Training and experience with various evaluation and screening measures-cognitive, adaptive, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD),etc. Current working knowledge/understanding of ASD and specific experience, training, and specialization in ASD services. Effective communication skills, verbal and written, and the ability to work cooperatively with families, professionals, and the public. A valid Drivers License in good standing.

Immunization:

If this position requires the applicant to work directly with consumers of The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, tuberculosis (TB) skin or blood testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.
