Job summary

Avera Medical Group Behavioral Health-Yankton is seeking a psychologist to join a multidisciplinary team dedicated to compassionate patient care. You will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention for adults with acute to moderately disturbed behavioral health needs.

The role includes individual, family or group therapy, coordinating with hospital departments, and documenting therapy in the EMR.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in psychology or equivalent.
• Active license in the practicing state.
• Experience with psychological assessments.
• Ability to conduct evidence-based therapy.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention for behavioral health patients.
• Conduct individual, family or group therapy sessions in accordance with accepted principles.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary treatment with hospital departments.
• Document therapy in EMR per hospital policies.

Work where you matter.A Brief OverviewResponsible to provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention of acute, chronic or moderately disturbed behavioral health patients. Provides clinical consultation services, community education services.What you will doCoordinates a clinical treatment program for the diagnosis, treatment, or referral of clients/patients presenting moderate to severe mental, behavioral, and/or social adjustment program. Adhere to policies which assure the confidentiality of client communications. Provide for a multi-disciplinary, holistic approach to the treatment of clients, coordinating same with appropriate hospital departments.Conducts individual, family or group therapy sessions in accordance with accepted principles of the American Psychological Association and the Avera Psychology Section by-laws. Assess progress of clients/patients with referring physician or agency. Document therapy in accordance with hospital policies and procedures in Electronic Medical Record.Intervenes as a crisis counselor in situations requiring immediate psychological treatment such as substance abuse, suicide attempts, psychotic episodes, and other instances as outlined in hospital policy. Refer client or patient to outside agencies where appropriate.Communicates with family members/significant others in order to further the effectiveness of client/patient treatment and progress. Coordinate client/patient billing and modify treatment program in accordance with insurance coverage, plan provisions, and individual ability to pay.Provides educational programs on a variety of psychological topics to hospital/community groups as requested.Administers and interpret psychological assessment instruments and outcomes in accordance with accepted principles of the American Psychological Association and the Avera Psychology Section by-laws.Essential QualificationsThe individual must be able to work the hours specified.
