Job summary

Avera Marshall is seeking a licensed psychologist to join its multidisciplinary behavioral health team. You will perform assessments, diagnoses, treatments, and crisis interventions for patients with acute or chronic psychological needs.

The role includes conducting individual, family, or group therapy, coordinating care with hospital departments, and documenting progress in the Electronic Medical Record while maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in psychology (PhD, PsyD, or EdD) or equivalent required.
  • Active state license to practice psychology is required.
  • Strong communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention for behavioral health patients.
  • Conduct individual, family, or group therapy per APA guidelines.

Work where you matter.A Brief OverviewResponsible to provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention of acute, chronic or moderately disturbed behavioral health patients. Provides clinical consultation services, community education services.What you will doCoordinates a clinical treatment program for the diagnosis, treatment, or referral of clients/patients presenting moderate to severe mental, behavioral, and/or social adjustment program. Adhere to policies which assure the confidentiality of client communications. Provide for a multi-disciplinary, holistic approach to the treatment of clients, coordinating same with appropriate hospital departments.Conducts individual, family or group therapy sessions in accordance with accepted principles of the American Psychological Association and the Avera Psychology Section by-laws. Assess progress of clients/patients with referring physician or agency. Document therapy in accordance with hospital policies and procedures in Electronic Medical Record.Intervenes as a crisis counselor in situations requiring immediate psychological treatment such as substance abuse, suicide attempts, psychotic episodes, and other instances as outlined in hospital policy. Refer client or patient to outside agencies where appropriate.Communicates with family members/significant others in order to further the effectiveness of client/patient treatment and progress. Coordinate client/patient billing and modify treatment program in accordance with insurance coverage, plan provisions, and individual ability to pay.Provides educational programs on a variety of psychological topics to hospital/community groups as requested.Administers and interpret psychological assessment instruments and outcomes in accordance with accepted principles of the American Psychological Association and the Avera Psychology Section by-laws.Essential QualificationsThe individual must be able to work the hours specified.
