Job description

Tewksbury Hospital, part of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), is seeking a dynamic and skilled Clinical Psychologist IV to play an essential role in providing highly skilled direct clinical psychology services to patients in an inpatient adult medical population. This position involves being the coordinator for the group therapy services and facilitating various group therapy services including but not limited to dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) informed skills group, substance abuse groups, and process-oriented groups. You will also formulate behavioral treatment plans for the patients as well as the treatment interventions (i.e., Individual Psychotherapy, Group Psychotherapy, and Behavioral Crisis Management). You'll play a crucial role in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and care. Additionally, you'll serve on the Rapid Response Team to de-escalate behavioral crises and prevent Help Calls.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

1. Provide individual, couples, family, group expressive, milieu and recreational therapy and staff monitoring for adult patients age 18+.
2. Provide behavioral management interventions, training, and supervision to the staff of these units and programs in order to implement treatment interventions for adult patients age 18+.
3. Assign and track the clinical work (e.g., individual and group therapy; psychodiagnostic assessments) to the clinicians in the psychology department.
4. Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams on individual evaluations, group treatment work, and family interventions.
5. Coordinate various group therapy services including but not limited to DBT informed skills group, substance abuse groups, process-oriented groups, and psychological referral services.
6. Provide guidance for trauma-informed response to critical incidents on units.
7. Conduct training programs for staff, students, public, and professionals.
8. Participate in interviewing, screening, and hiring of psychologists and other clinical professional and clinical direct-care staff.
9. Participate in staff and hospital-wide meetings.
10. Participate in the Rapid Response Team, a behavioral crisis intervention designed to de-escalate patient interactions and prevent Help Calls.
11. Prepare and maintain clinical, programmatic, and administrative reports and records.
12. Participate in multidisciplinary team plans for evaluation, treatment, and discharge for patients.
13. Supervise and evaluate the therapeutic work and research performed by others.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Doctorate in Psychology from a school accredited by the American Psychological Association. Applicants must also have at least three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience as a Licensed Psychologist in the application of psychological principles and techniques in a recognized agency providing psychological services or treatment, of which at least one year must have included supervision over Post-doctoral Psychologists-in-training and/or Psychological Assistants.

Special Requirements:

• Current and valid registration as a Psychologist by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Psychology.
• Based on assignment, must meet the eligibility requirements for Designated Forensic Psychologist in 104 CMR 33.04(3)(b).
• Based on assignment, travel may be required. Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent from another state.

Title 101 CMR 23.00 (“Regulation”) requires certain agency staff to have received the COVID-19 vaccination and Influenza vaccination, or have taken required mitigation measures, to prevent viral infection and transmission in State Hospitals and State Congregate Care Facilities.
