Job summary

Family Care Center in Memphis is seeking an independently licensed behavioral health clinician to provide counseling and mental health services across a range of populations, including adults and youths. The role includes evaluating and treating mental illness, coordinating care with referrals, and supporting social needs in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • PhD or PsyD required; 2 years of relevant experience with adult, geriatric, child, and adolescent populations.
  • Experience using evidence-based treatments to treat multiple behavioral health disorders, including anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
  • State licensure as a PhD or PsyD required.

Responsibilities

  • Implements counseling/therapy for assigned patients in individual and group settings.
  • Interviews and assesses patients and/or patient’s family, caregivers, and/or legal representatives.
  • Determines, provides, and/or arranges for needed internal and external services/interventions and participates in case reviews/care conferences.
  • Assists with discharge planning and processes, including identification of community-based resources and providing referrals.
  • Assesses, collaborates, and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs and readiness for discharge with other care team members.
  • Utilizes appropriate teaching methods and/or referrals to meet patient/family educational needs.
  • Participates and/or trains new staff, students, and interns as assigned.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Position Overview

Operates as an independently licensed behavioral health clinician. Provides counseling and mental health services, which may include evaluation, diagnosis, treatment of mental illness, and other psychological issues. Therapists address social needs of patients, utilize appropriate external or internal referral sources for specialty care, hospitalization, or advanced psychiatric assessments and treatments.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Implements counseling/therapy for assigned patients in individual and group settings.
  • Interviews and assesses patients and/or patient’s family, caregivers, and/or legal representatives.
  • Determines, provides, and/or arranges for needed internal and external services/interventions and participates in case reviews/care conferences.
  • Assists with discharge planning and processes, including identification of community‑based resources and providing referrals.
  • Assesses, collaborates, and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs and readiness for discharge with other care team members.
  • Utilizes appropriate teaching methods and/or referrals to meet patient/family educational needs.
  • Participates and/or trains new staff, students, and interns as assigned.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment and take appropriate action.
Other Duties
  • Attend weekly mandatory supervisory meetings with the Clinical Director or Clinical Supervisor as required.
  • Assist with other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) required; 2 years of relevant experience with adult, geriatric, child, and adolescent populations.
  • Experience in behavioral interventions, critical incident event management, and case management.
  • Experience using evidence‑based treatments to treat multiple behavioral health disorders, including anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
  • State licensure as a PhD or PsyD required.
Total Annual Compensation

$104,000 – $148,000+ (based on experience and patient care). Base salary is determined by years of experience (YOE). Includes bi‑weekly premium pay and additional earnings for hours above target. Eligible for specialty services outcomes bonuses (TMS & IOP).
