Psychological Services Specialist, DHS - Selinsgrove Center

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Psychological Services Specialist (PSS), you will be preforming technical work providing psychological, counseling, and behavior support services at Selinsgrove Center to persons with all ranges of intellectual disability and dually diagnosed, co-occurring mental health conditions. Within this role, you will be completingFBAs, analyzing psychological and behavioral issues, and providing recommendations to the team regarding psychological care. Work also includes drafting and monitoring progress on mental health support actions(MHSA), providing in person training to staff on the implementation of and data collection associated with MHSA, as well as providing individual and group counseling. You will be required to demonstrate and transfer the strategies in the MHSA to the direct care staff by directly interacting with the individual in the presence of the staff. You will have the opportunity to monitor and observe the staff to ensure that the skills and strategies contained in the MHSA have been learned and are being appropriately utilized and will correct staff as needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • FREE PARKING!
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Alternate work schedule as needed, some second and third shift work required.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A master’s degree in a behavioral science, counseling education, rehabilitation, human development or a closely related field.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
