Job summary

The Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) in Reno, Nevada, is recruiting a Psychological Assistant to support assessments and therapies for individuals with developmental disabilities and co-occurring mental health conditions.

Under supervision, the incumbent conducts evaluations, delivers counseling and behavioral interventions, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to implement person-centered planning and positive behavior support.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in psychology and registration with the Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners.
  • Applicants licensed in other states must obtain Nevada licensure.
  • Experience with developmental disabilities and mental health diagnoses preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychological evaluations, provide consultation and counseling, and deliver behavioral support.
  • Facilitate individual, family and group therapies and manage crises with interventions/recommendations.
  • Under supervision, progress to Licensed Psychologist I upon licensure; collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Administer, score and interpret a variety of tests; write comprehensive reports and document services in client charts.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings; develop treatment plans and provide therapy and counseling as needed.
  • Review psychosocial assessments, ensure compliance with laws/regulations, and support program service planning.
