Overview

Trinity Health IHA Medical Group is seeking an experienced, board-certified Psychiatrist to join our multispecialty group in Southeast Michigan as the Program Director for the Psychiatry Residency Program.

Program Director Responsibilities

The Program Director oversees program administration, teaching, trainee recruitment, evaluation, supervision, and compliance with ACGME requirements. This role is a 0.5 FTE position, with clinical duties flexible across Psychiatry, requiring at least a 0.3 clinical FTE working with residents.

Essential Job Functions

• Design and manage the program to meet community needs and institutional mission.
• Promote professionalism, respect, and a harassment-free environment.
• Ensure a safe learning environment and promote trainee well-being.
• Oversee activities across clinical sites, including faculty appointments and site director roles.
• Supervise trainees appropriately based on their PGY-level and patient acuity.
• Recruit and retain a diverse workforce of trainees and faculty.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare for program reviews.
• Develop and update educational curricula and rotations.
• Organize annual program evaluations and improvement plans.
• Evaluate trainees and faculty semi-annually and develop individualized learning plans.
• Collaborate with departmental leadership to ensure safe, effective patient care and appropriate trainee responsibilities.
• Participate in scholarly activities, educational conferences, and program logistics.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with active practice in Behavioral Health.
• At least 3 years of educational or administrative experience or equivalent qualifications.
• Board certification in Psychiatry by ABMS or AOBMS.
• Current medical licensure and appropriate hospital appointments.
• Ongoing clinical activity and CME compliance.
