Psychiatrist Staff

Behavioral Health Services

Hourly Rate: $95.14 - $143.40

Current Full-Time opening with ACT/CSP

Position Summary:

Under general direction, the Psychiatrist Staff provides psychiatric diagnosis, care, and treatment to adults within Crisis Services and/or Community Access to Recovery Services (CARS). The Psychiatrist serves as an attending/treating physician and team treatment director for clients in programs like Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT), and others.

Position Duties:
  • Provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, care, treatment, and planning for outpatient clients and crisis evaluations. Conduct medication management and supervise psychotherapy as needed.
  • Provide and direct ongoing psychiatric care, participate in multidisciplinary teams, and develop treatment plans to meet patient goals.
  • Consult with professionals, agencies, families, and make referrals. Conduct assessments for suicide or homicide risks.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, including billing documentation, in accordance with policies and legal requirements.
  • Familiarize with WI mental health laws, prepare for and testify at legal hearings.
  • Participate in teaching, training, supervision, and serve on committees as required.
  • Collaborate with Medical Directors and staff on operational matters and policy development.
  • Engage in research and continuous professional development. May participate in on-call rotations.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy (MD or DO)
  • Current Wisconsin Medical license or ability to obtain it
  • Completion of at least three years of Psychiatry residency training
  • Registration with the DEA or ability to obtain it
  • Board eligible or certified in Psychiatry (ABPN or AOA), with certification maintained thereafter
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with EHR software (preferably Avatar)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of psychiatry principles, ability to conduct psychotherapy, create harmonious relationships, and use electronic medical records effectively. Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.

Residency Requirement:

Applicants must establish residency in Wisconsin or Illinois within six months of appointment and maintain it during employment.
