Job summary

South Coast Community Services is seeking a Psychiatrist to provide direct patient care and serve as a liaison to clinical staff. The role collaborates with program directors, managers, and clinicians on clinical issues to foster a culture of continuous quality improvement and professional relationships internal and external to the organization.

The Psychiatrist will diagnose and treat adults and children with mental health disorders, develop treatment plans using psychotherapy and medications,

Qualifications

• Completion of medical residency program in Psychiatry.
• Fluency in Spanish preferred but not required.
• Active medical license to practice in California and DEA registration.
• Board certification in Psychiatry is ideal; if not, Board eligibility with certification within 4 years.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat adult and child patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders.
• Determine the nature and extent of mental disorders and formulate treatment plans.
• Provide direct patient care and collaborate with clinical staff on psychiatric issues.
• Understand medication effects and interactions, coordinating with physical health concerns.
• Collaborate with local hospitals on step up/step down care as needed.
