Job Description

The Associate Medical Director of Psychiatric Services at Natchaug Hospital is responsible for providing effective and efficient daily leadership and clinical oversight for the adult inpatient care on the Natchaug Hospital campus. The primary duties of the Associate Medical Director include direct clinical care, supervision of the inpatient medical staff, and collaboration with other Natchaug Hospital leadership team members.

Additionally, the Associate Medical Director of Inpatient Services will be responsible for the following:

  1. Monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of services provided by the inpatient medical staff;
  2. Promote collaboration among disciplines through leadership at clinical team meetings, case conferences, and other hospital meetings;
  3. Identify and help provide management for high acuity cases, disposition issues, and other clinical concerns;
  4. Participate in policy formation and assure policy compliance in collaboration with other disciplines;
  5. Provide leadership of inpatient quality improvement and accountability for unit performance dashboards, including Joint Commission HBIPS and CMS Core Measures;
  6. Develop, improve and standardize clinical workflows through collaboration with other departments, agencies and physician specialists;
  7. Other duties as needed.

The Associate Medical Director reports to the Regional Medical Director of the HHC Behavioral Health Network East Region.

Qualifications

Experience Requirements:

  1. Experience or training in adult in-patient and evaluation services, experience with a multidisciplinary team;
  2. Board Certified (or Board Eligible psychiatrist if within 5 years of residency);
  3. State of CT, Department of Public Health medical license; DEA; CCSR.
