Associate Medical Director - General Psychiatry - New Britain, CT

Hartford HealthCare's Behavioral Health Network (HHC BHN) has an opportunity available for a BC/BE Psychiatrist to join our cohesive behavioral health team by providing Leadership and Psychiatry services at The Hospital of Central Connecticut (HOCC) located in New Britain, CT.

Highlights of this opportunity include:

  1. Provide psychiatric services for adult, adolescent, and child clients on in-patient units, and for the partial hospitalization programs.
  2. Provide direct patient services including diagnostic admission evaluations, psychotherapy, and pharmacotherapy, as appropriate.
  3. Work within a multi-disciplinary treatment team and potentially act as a clinical team leader for the coordination and supervision of care across disciplines. The Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist will provide guidance and leadership to other clinicians in formulating and implementing treatment plans.
  4. Complete timely documentation of assessments, clinical interventions, discharge summaries, and update records as specified in medical staff regulations.
  5. Monitor risk indicators and address risk management issues promptly to ensure safety and safeguard the hospital, including consultation with peers and acting as a resource to the treatment team.
  6. Adhere to safe, evidence-based prescribing practices. Obtain appropriate and informed consent for medication trials prior to prescribing.
  7. Act as liaison and communicate effectively with outside providers, primary care physicians, schools, and family members as needed.
  8. Provide supervision to selected non-physician health professionals.
  9. Participate in Medical Staff Committees and meetings as specified in Medical Staff regulations.
  10. Oversee psychiatric Consult and Liaison services for the local general hospital.
  11. Supervise clinical training in community psychiatry for fellows, residents, and students.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with adult, adolescent, or child inpatient and evaluation services within a multidisciplinary team model.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
  • License in Connecticut, DEA registration, CCSR certification.
