Job summary

Carilion Clinic seeks a full-time Ambulatory Psychiatrist to join Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Christiansburg, VA. This role offers academic collaboration with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and an opportunity to teach learners while delivering patient-centered care.

Position emphasizes a balanced ambulatory practice with strong system support, and J1 visa sponsorship is available for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry (ABPN).
• Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
• Manage medications and coordinate care with a multidisciplinary team.
• Engage in teaching and mentorship of learners at multiple levels.
• Contribute to high-quality, compliant documentation and continuity of care.
