Job summary

The State of Missouri is seeking a Psychiatrist for our South Campus in St. Louis, MO. This long‑term forensic inpatient hospital serves patients with serious mental illness who are involved with the legal system.

The role requires a medical degree and successful completion of an accredited psychiatry residency. You will diagnose, treat, and monitor patients, working within an interdisciplinary team to maximize psychiatric stability and community reintegration.

Qualifications

• Must be an MD or DO graduate from an accredited adult psychiatry residency.
• Experience in forensic inpatient settings is a plus.
• Ability to work with an interdisciplinary team to maximize patient care.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and prescribe psychiatric medications for patients with serious mental illness.
• Develop and implement psychiatric treatment plans and monitor effectiveness.
• Collaborate with a team including medical providers, social workers, psychologists, dieticians, pharmacists, and rehabilitation specialists.

PSYCHIATRIST

This position will be located at our South Campus, 5300 Arsenal Street, St. Louis, MO 63139. The facility is a long‑term forensic inpatient state psychiatric hospital with an average length of stay of 4 years. Patients suffer from serious mental illnesses and involvement with the legal system; most having been found permanently incompetent to stand trial or not guilty by reason of insanity.

Your Responsibilities Would Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Diagnose and prescribe psychiatric medication for patients with serious mental illness.
• Develop and implement psychiatric treatment plans and monitor for effectiveness.
• Work together with an interdisciplinary team including internal medical providers, social workers, psychologists, dieticians, pharmacists, and rehabilitation specialists to maximize psychiatric stability and re-integrate into the community.
• MD or DO graduate from an accredited adult psychiatry residency.
