Job description

This position is located at the Monterey County Jail in Salinas, CA and the schedule is set for Monday through Friday 7a-330p. Pay is $200-210/hr.

We are seeking a dedicated Psychiatrist to join our healthcare team and provide the best patient care to youth within the correctional environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing high-quality mental health care to patients and contributing to their overall well-being, as well as working and communicating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the Health Services Administrator and the Mental Health Director in the coordination of the mental health care delivery system.
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments of patients, as well as follow-up and chronic care appointments.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to individual youth needs.
  • Provide education to youth about their treatment and ensure comprehension.
  • Manage crisis situations effectively by conducting risk assessments and determining appropriate level of care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Stay current on advancements in psychiatry and behavioral health practices.
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Board certification in Psychiatry.
  • Valid state medical license to practice as a Psychiatrist in the state of California.
  • Proficiency in psychopharmacology.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective patient care.
