Job description

Compensation : $233,000-$254,000 DOE depending on years since licensed, sign-on bonus , and excellent benefits : medical, dental, vision, Flexible Spending Accounts, dependent and domestic partner coverage, 403(b) retirement savings plan, and loan repayment programs, and commuter benefits. LifeLong qualifies for federal and state loan repayment programs (HPSA score is 21). Acceptance rates may vary year to year based on funding levels and the number of applicants.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients with mental illnesses through a combination of primarily psychopharmacology and psychotherapy.
  • Performs initial psychiatric assessments, develops individualized care plans, and implements treatment for the patient.
  • Assesses patients through interviews, observations, tests, and medical history reviews.
  • Monitors and records client progress, and amends treatment plan according to patient response.
  • Provides verbal and written education and counseling to patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Plans follow-up care, including requests for outside consultations and evaluations.
  • Maintains patient records necessary for clinic reporting, billing, and quality improvement.
  • Functions potentially in a variety of settings, including a health center, skilled nursing facilities, supportive housing sites, and in clients' homes.
  • Provides patients with emotional support and strategies to help manage their disorder.
  • Stay current with new developments in psychiatry and mental health.
  • Participates as a member of the site clinical services team and attends clinical team meetings.
  • Coordinates care with other health team members, including case management and behavioral health staff, clinical consultation with other clinicians.
  • Acts as an advocate for the patient and liaison with outside agencies as appropriate
  • Supervises Advanced Practice Psychiatric Providers (Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants)
  • Actively participates in internal quality improvement teams and works with members proactively to drive quality improvement initiatives according to the organization's mission and strategic goals, federal and state laws and regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Medical degree required and must have completed psychiatry residency and board eligible
  • Current and unrestricted Medical License to practice in the state of California
  • Must have current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration in order to prescribe certain medications.
  • Interest in working with a diverse patient population in a community-based organization and sensitivity to their needs and health problems; commitment to a community health philosophy of prevention and primary care.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365

Job Preferences

  • Board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
  • Experience in federally qualified health center or other community health environment preferred
  • Experience as part of a team-based care model.
  • Electronic Health record, Epic experience.

The employee frequently works with a video display terminal for prolonged periods; vision abilities include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in inside environmental conditions. The employee may be required to attend evening meetings, travel and work evenings or weekends. The noise level is usually quiet. Employee is subject to frequent interruptions.
