Job description

The Psychiatrist / Regional Medical Leader reports directly to the National Medical Director. The ideal candidate has experience managing medical teams and embodies an ongoing growth mindset. A passion and commitment to healthcare and transforming the way we deliver accessible, evidence-based, and clinically population-based care to individuals affected by addiction is a must. This is a remote role.

Responsibilities are 80% clinical/ 20% administrative. Clinical time will be spent in the direct provision of substance use disorder treatment services including MSUD and psychiatry. Administrative time includes direct and collaborative operations management: ensuring adequate market medical staffing, continuous quality improvement, medical team recruitment and onboarding, performance coaching, development and retention of medical team members, and cultivation of community referral partnerships.

Candidate Responsibilities:

  • Clinical (80%):

    • Provides direct community member care for all substance use disorders, including MAT and psychiatry, both in-person and via telemedicine
    • Collaborates with care team members to advise on integrated care plans, decisions, and operations
    • On-call is required for all full-time medical providers

    Administrative (20%):

    • Serve as an anchor and trusted go-to for day-to-day clinical and medical guidance
    • Works closely with Eleanor Health's operational, clinical, and medical teams to ensure seamless integration of medical services with whole-person support services
    • Works closely with the National Medical Director, Regional President, Regional Operations Managers, Clinical Quality and Care Model Leadership, Central Operations Leadership, and other functional leaders to plan, communicate, and implement medical policies, standards, and programs.
    • Collaborates with market teams to deliver on care model fidelity, quality, growth, team engagement, partnership, and financial goals
    • Ensures medical care and documentation comply with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and CARF accreditation standards
    • Recruits develops and supports the delivery of onboarding, training, development, and retention plans for medical and nursing staff
    • In collaboration with the National Medical Director and National Supervising Physician, provides direct support to physicians, advanced practice providers (APPs), and nurses including clinical supervision, performance management, and peer review activities.
    • Participates in continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives
    • Skillfully support and guide the team’s effective navigation through the ambiguity and constant change of the start-up environment
    • Cultivates community referral partnerships
    • Serves as a regional thought leader

Candidate Qualifications

  • M.D., D.O. required
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Psychiatry
  • BC/BE in Addiction Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine is preferred but not required
  • Completed Graduate Medical Education accredited psychiatry residency
  • Understanding of state health systems, health insurance, and state policies
  • Current active, unencumbered medical license in at least one of the following states: Louisiana, Texas, North Carolina, Florida, New Mexico, Tennessee, Oklahoma or Missouri
  • Secured and maintains active license to practice medicine and DEA for each market in the region
  • Mission-driven and motivated to join an organization that is transforming the delivery of accessible, evidence-based, and clinically excellent care in the substance use disorder space
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and taking on a variety of tasks, as needed
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary, and community member-centered care model
  • 4+ years’ medical experience providing substance use care for opioids, alcohol, benzodiazepines, and other substances with directly providing MAT patient care within the last year
  • 2+ years of medical leadership experience
  • Experience working with integrated care team to meet additional patient needs
  • Able to travel up to 15%

The target annual compensation range for this position is $250,000-265,000. The actual compensation offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.
