Job summary

Central City Health is seeking a Psychiatrist to deliver high-quality outpatient psychiatric care in Detroit. Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Michigan medical license and board-certified/eligible in Psychiatry.

• BLS and ACLS certification required.

• Proficient in EHR systems and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication reviews.

Job Summary:

Central City Health is committed to enabling every patient in our community to thrive by building a collaborative multidisciplinary healthcare team. The Psychiatrist is a key member of the clinical team responsible for delivering high-quality, comprehensive psychiatric care in an outpatient setting. The Psychiatrist will assess, diagnose, treat, and manage a range of acute, episodic, and chronic mental health conditions, including prescribing and managing medications as clinically appropriate. The Psychiatrist works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary care team to support integrated, patient-centered care and provides services consistent with the physician’s training, clinical privileges, scope of practice, and applicable State of Michigan requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Ensures all actions represent the organization in a highly professional manner.
• Performs comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication reviews.
• Analyzes and interprets patient histories, symptoms, physical findings.
• Assigns appropriate diagnoses and consults with primary care provider(s).
• Evaluates patient need for psychotropic medications and prescribes as indicated.
• Provides medication reviews to monitor effectiveness of medication(s).
• Counsel’s patients about drug regiments and possible side effects or interactions.
• Detects and responds to adverse drug reactions with patients.
• Conducts Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale (AIMS) tests on patients.
• Authorizes by electronic signature, patient Individual Plan of Service (IPOS).

Education & Experience:

• Must possess a valid Michigan licensure as a Medical Doctor.
• Must meet all Continuing Education requirements.
• Prior experience working in a community mental health is preferred.
• Must be able to work cooperatively with staff in the delivery of service to patient.
• BLS and ACLS is required.
• Experience in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Must maintain confidentiality relating to treatment in accordance with HIPAA.
• Knowledge of PCMH.
• Provide direct, patient-centered care to adult patients aged 18 and older.
• Perform comprehensive and problem-focused medical evaluations.
• Diagnose and manage a wide range of chronic and acute medical conditions.
• Provide preventive care and health screenings.
• Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests.
• Prescribe medications appropriately, with formulary and limitations.
• Collaborate with behavioral health, care coordination, and specialty providers.
• Ability to utilize the electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team huddles, peer reviews and case conferences.
• Educate patients and their families on health conditions and treatment options.
• Maintain active licensure and complete required continuing medical education.
• Participate in community health outreach and events, as needed.
