Job summary

The GEO Group is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist to evaluate, treat, and supervise mental health services for inmates and detainees at our California facility. You will oversee clinical activities, coordinate care with nursing staff, and provide emergency psychiatric support as needed.

Qualifications include an MD, board certification in Psychiatry, state licensure, and at least one year of clinical experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical school with specialty training in psychiatry.
• Board certified in Psychiatry and maintain certification during employment.
• Licensed to practice medicine in the state of California.
• One year of clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and treats inmates or residents with signs of mental illness.

Responsibilities

Summary:

The Psychiatrist evaluates and treats inmates, detainees, or residents (I/D/R) demonstrating signsor symptoms of mental illness. Supervises nursing staff providing mental health services.Responsible for overall psychiatric direction of the mental health program.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• The Psychiatrist supervises clinical activities and medical personnel while on duty.
• Evaluates patients referred for assessment due to mental illness.
• The Psychiatrist treats all patients requiring psychiatric intervention.
• Refers patients counseling or inpatient care as necessary.
• The Psychiatrist reviews and adjusts as necessary all maintenance medications based onclinical judgment and as required by policy.
• Provides emergency psychiatric care as required.
• The Psychiatrist provides in-service education for medical and correctional staff as requested.
• Documents all services provided in the patient’s medical file.
• The Psychiatrist participates in review of the quality of care provided.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited medical school with specialty training in psychiatry.
• Board certified in Psychiatry and must maintain board certification during employment orboard eligible if within seven (7) years of their completion of an Accreditation Council forGraduate Medical Education (ACGME) approved residency in Psychiatry.
• Licensed to practice medicine in the state in which the Facility is located.
• One (1) year of clinical experience.
• Copy of professional license to remain on file at the Facility where services are rendered at all times.
• Maintain a current DPS and DEA Certificate of Registration.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department

Pay

Pay USD $225.00/Hr. to USD $225.00/Hr.
