Position Summary:

We are seeking a Psychiatric Technician - Psych Access - Part Time, Days (7AM - 7PM, Alternating Days) - NSG-Psychiatric. The role involves collaborating with Behavioral Health staff to observe, care for, and treat adult psychiatric patients in an emergency setting, requiring excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The technician follows the guidance of the Charge RN, Nurse Manager, and Behavioral Health Management Team.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Provision of Patient Care: Identify unusual patient behaviors, document observations, apply restraints appropriately, and adhere to hospital policies on restraint, seclusion, and observation. Recognize verbal/non-verbal communication issues, ensure confidentiality, and conduct regular patient rounds. Provide behavioral information to RNs for treatment planning and participate in maintaining a safe environment.
2. Documentation: Complete all required paperwork accurately, including patient admission, daily census, treatment orders, and incident reports, ensuring proper documentation of patient behavior, belongings, restraints, and observations.
3. Departmental Contributions: Conduct contraband checks, assist with patient transfers and activities of daily living, help with meals and laundry, and support patient discharge procedures. Provide 1:1 supervision when required and assist in maintaining a therapeutic environment.
4. Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent, effective communication skills, knowledge of crisis intervention, First Aid, BLS, de-escalation training, and physical ability to lift/carry and reach as specified.
