Job Description Summary
Beaufort County Community College is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable part-time Psychiatric Technician Instructor to teach and support Psychiatric Technician courses within the Division of Continuing Education. The course is 144 contact hours and offered hybrid with 8 hours online and 4 hours seated each week. Class meeting times are flexible and can be scheduled based on the instructor’s availability This position is responsible for delivering engaging, competency-based instruction that prepares students for entry-level employment in behavioral health and psychiatric care settings. The instructor will work under the supervision of the Director of Healthcare Programs and will adhere to college policies and guidelines to ensure the highest quality of instruction and student outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of four (4) years of professional experience working as a Psychiatric Technician in a clinical or behavioral health setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Current certification as a Psychiatric Technician, or licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse ( LPN ) or Registered Nurse (RN), with a minimum of two years of relevant work experience.
The Continuing Education Instructor works cooperatively with BCCC staff to perform the following:
• Prepare and teach assigned courses in accordance with course syllabus.
• Maintain accurate registration, attendance, and payroll records for each course taught.
• Prepare, review, and update course syllabus on a regular basis.
• Recommend and assist with curriculum revisions as necessary.
• Use formative and summative assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching.
• Create an effective learning environment and use teaching methods designed for a variety of learning styles.
• Submit required reports and fulfill all contract provisions.
• Assist with maintaining a classroom environment emphasizing safety, good housekeeping, and equipment security.
• Maintain student, instructor, and staff confidentiality. Consistently monitor work area to ensure instructor and student data is being protected according to Family Education Rights and Privacy Act ( FERPA ) regulations.
• Multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
• Adapt and respond to changing work situations and environments in a positive manner.
• Participate in professional development activities designed to enhance job skills and knowledge, as agreed upon by the employee and supervisor.
• Interact with students, the public, the community, and co-workers in a cooperative, courteous and professional manner.
• Comply with the College’s policies and procedures.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities, as assigned by supervisor.
