Meridian Health Services is seeking a full-time Psychiatric Technician for Riverbend Hospital in West Lafayette, Indiana. The role involves assisting with ADLs, monitoring vital signs, and supporting treatment plans within a 12-hour rotating shift schedule (7am–7pm).

Candidates should have a high school diploma and be at least 18 years old; CPR certification and EHR experience are preferred. The position emphasizes safety, documentation, and collaborative care in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited high school or its equivalent.
• At least 18 years of age at completion of orientation.

Responsabilités

• Attends to clients personal needs on Units (phone calls, clothing, laundry, exercise, etc.).
• Initiates and assists in client ADLs.
• Engages clients in treatment, social, leisure and recreational activities.
• Keeps clients informed of their treatment plan objectives and progress.
• Demonstrates competency in taking vital signs, obtaining urine specimens, assisting with nursing tasks under supervision.
• Documents observations and interventions in the health record with accuracy and timeliness.

Key Responsibilities

Attends to clients personal needs on Units phone calls clothing laundry exercise etcInitiates and assists in client ADLsEncourages and engages clients in treatment social leisure and recreational activitiesUtilizes therapeutic skills in interactions with clients families and visitorsKeeps clients informed of their treatment plan objectives and progressAble to set therapeutic guidelines with clients for destructive disordered deviant dysphoric or dependent behaviorsDemonstrates competency in taking vital signs obtaining urine specimens assisting with nursing tasks under Unit Nurse directionsDemonstrates reporting accurate information to the Unit Nurse regarding observations which include client behaviors reactions to illness medications detox symptoms allergic reactions pain fall risk and suicide risk Functions within parameters specified by nursing care plans multi disciplinary treatment plans and general therapeutic goals including cultural and age specific needs Functions as role model to enhance development of appropriate social skillsCommunicates in a respectful clear and direct manner with all Hospital staff clients and visitorsDemonstrates clear and therapeutic written communications including charting COS report Kardex etc Maintains Unit supplies cleanliness order and routines as established by Hospital Program and nursing policy and procedureCompletes psychiatric technicians responsibilities for admission and discharge correctly and thoroughlyInforms supervisor coworkers and treatment team members of all concerns interactions andor behaviors of clients welfareDemonstrates knowledge of safetysecurity issues including PIs COs locked doors closets cupboards emergency codes CPIrestraints physicalverbal Effectively conducts UnitRoom searches and scheduled Unit rounds and recognizes importance of interventionsMaintains awareness of potential risks for clientsstaff including privilege levels and need for supervisionmonitoring COs 11 Constant Eye etcNotifies appropriate departments supervisors Unit nurse treatment team members of potential hazards to client staff andor visitorsTakes appropriate measures to intervene in client risky behaviors Suicidal elopement aggression etc with Hospital approved verbalphysical skillsReads and signs off on all Observations sheets Assignment sheet tasks and other checklist binder entriesDocuments specific detailed observations behaviors and interventions on assigned patientsDocuments vital signs height weight participation in electronic health record of assigned patients efficiently and in a timely mannerCompetent in electronic health record documentationDemonstrates proper Universal Precautions and infectious control protocolsResponds to codes and participates at level of training and experience Maintains required certifications for position and Units CPR Age Specific Competencies etcAttends and participates in mandatory in servicesDemonstrates attendance and punctuality within Hospital guidelinesParticipates in and assists with Activity Therapy sessions on UnitsUnderstands and observes confidentialityPerforms other duties as assigned
