Job summary

Austin Oaks Hospital in South Austin, Texas, part of Universal Health Services, seeks an attentive RN to support adult, adolescent, and geriatric units. The RN will implement and evaluate patient care, supervise nursing staff, and assist leadership with unit operations within a crisis-stabilizing environment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program and Texas RN license (or compact-state license).
• One-year psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
• CPR and hospital de-escalation certifications; may be obtained during orientation.
• Background check and pre-employment drug screen required; OIG checks.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient admissions and nursing assessments.
• Document ongoing patient assessments and progress per standards.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician.
• Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Provide milieu management and unit leadership.
• Deliver age-appropriate communication and education to patients and families.
• Prepare for and adhere to the discharge process.
