Job summary

Mid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center is actively seeking Registered Nurses to join a multidisciplinary team providing patient-centered and recovery-focused mental health care for individuals with serious mental illness. Prior psychiatric experience is not required, and candidates from outside or within State Service are welcome.

Nurses contribute to coordinating nursing care, assessments, and care plans, while delivering health teaching and counseling to patients and families.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid New York State Registered Professional Nurse license.
• Current RN registration in New York State is required.
• Experience in State Service or Emergency Placement programs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and provide nursing care to patients
• Conduct nursing assessments and develop care plans
• Prepare, implement, and modify nursing care plans
• Provide health teaching, counseling, and education to individuals and families
• Implement infection control protocols and procedures
• Observe and record symptoms and responses to medications
