Western State Hospital in Staunton, VA is seeking a full-time Autonomous Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Floater to provide cross-coverage and deliver psychiatric care as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for assigned units.

The role includes Staff On-Duty and Psych Backup coverage across the facility and collaboration with the treatment team, while supporting NP students as needed.

Qualificações

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
• Licensed Psychiatric/Mental Nurse Practitioner with Autonomous Practice and Prescriptive Authority in Virginia.
• Active DEA registration prior to the approval of clinical privilege(s).

Responsabilidades

• Provide direct psychiatric care of patients on the assigned unit including: Psychiatric assessment; patient and family interviews; psychopharmacologic management.
• Plan and implement psychiatric, medical, and behavioral rehabilitation treatment plans for patients on this service.
• Liaise with community mental health center staff in preparing and implementing patient discharge plans.
• Supervise psychiatric nurse practitioner students.
• Review case formulations, treatment plans, and documentation of nursing students on the service.
• Review orders and treatment plans made by others for patients on the service.

Position Overview

Western State Hospital is seeking a full time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Floater to floating provider offering cross‑coverage across the facility while delivering psychiatric care as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for assigned units and provide Staff On-Duty and Psych Backup coverage for hospital as scheduled.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing direct psychiatric care of patients on the assigned unit including: Psychiatric assessment; Patient and family interviews; Psychopharmacologic management; etc.
• Planning and implementing psychiatric, medical, and behavioral rehabilitation treatment plans for patients on this service
• Liaison with community mental health center staff in preparing and implementing patient discharge plans
• Supervision of psychiatric nurse practitioner students
• Reviewing of case formulations, treatment plans, documentation, and other activities of nursing students on the service
• Reviewing orders, emergency decisions, and treatment plans made by others (ODs) for patients on the service
