Job description

Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) – a nationally recognized public health system – is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for our Child and Adolescent Psychiatry inpatient service at Somerville Hospital. The CHA Center of Excellence for Child and Adolescent Inpatient Mental Health Care provides a continuum of patient‑and family‑centered care for diverse youth with mental health needs and includes a 12‑bed neurodevelopmental unit.

Responsibilities

• 0.9FTE; 11:30 pm‑8 am weekdays, with every other weekend 8 pm‑8:30 am. MNA Somerville Union
• Perform admissions to the child, adolescent, and neurodevelopmental units, including physical examinations
• Perform clinical assessments and evaluations
• Plan, implement, and revise treatment in consultation with multidisciplinary teams and with community agencies as appropriate
• Complete patient chart documentation as required by all pertinent governing bodies in a timely manner
• Demonstrate ability to manage emergency situations in a prompt, precise, and professional manner
• Demonstrate expertise in nonviolent crisis prevention and management
• All responsibilities will be consistent with the scope of practice acts governing health care in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum of two years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner with current experience treating children and adolescents
• Current inpatient or psychiatric emergency setting experience with youth preferred
• A Master’s degree (Nursing preferred) with a specialization in psychiatric mental health nursing or a relevant clinical area
• Current Massachusetts licensure authorizing practice in an expanded role as a Psychiatric Nurse Clinical Specialist and authorization including prescriptive authority
• Maintains current Basic Life Support “C” Certification; Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing by the American Nursing Association
• Salary range is $61 – $111 per hour based on years of experience
