Job summary

Wellpath in Florida is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive psychiatric services to incarcerated patients, in accordance with state licensure and collaborative practice requirements. You will deliver direct psychiatric care, clinical consultation, and follow-up to support treatment and continuity of care.

This role requires an MS in Nursing with PMHNP certification, a current PMHNP license in Florida, DEA, and BLS.

Qualifications

• Master in Science of Nursing or post-master PMHNP program completed.
• Current Florida PMHNP license and board certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric evaluations, treatment, follow-up care, and medication management.
• Monitor effectiveness and side effects of psychotropic medications and educate patients.
• Collaborate with mental health, medical, and administrative teams for coordinated care.
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation and attend required meetings.
• Support crisis intervention, referrals, transfers, and on-call coverage.

How you make a difference

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides a full range of psychiatric services to incarcerated patients in accordance with state licensure, collaborative practice requirements, and established policies and procedures. This role delivers direct psychiatric care, clinical consultation, and follow-up services to support patient treatment and continuity of care. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner also seeks clinical consultation and supervision as required by collaborative practice protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric evaluations, treatment, follow-up care, and medication management within professional and regulatory standards.
• Monitor effectiveness and side effects of psychotropic medications and provide ongoing patient education and informed consent.
• Collaborate with mental health, medical, and administrative teams to ensure coordinated and consistent psychiatric services.
• Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation and participate in required meetings, consultations, and on-call coverage.
• Support crisis intervention, referrals, transfers, and emergency or involuntary treatment processes as allowed by scope of practice and guidelines.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Master in Science of Nursing or Post-Master’s Certificate from an accredited nurse practitioner program with a specialty in psychiatric mental health across the lifespan.

Experience

• Minimum one (1) year of experience as a PMHNP required.
• Corrections experience in a PMHNP role preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

• Unrestricted current license to practice as a PMHNP in the state of practice.
• Current board certification as a PMHNP.
• Current DEA Registration.
• Current BLS certification.
