Step into a critical role where your expertise in psychiatric nursing meets an urgent need. This Nurse Practitioner position is based within a New Jersey correctional facility, where you’ll care for an underserved and often overlooked population. In this secure and structured setting, you'll deliver high-quality mental health care that can change the course of lives—both inside and beyond the walls.
What You’ll Do:
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments for individuals with a wide range of mental health conditions
- Develop personalized treatment plans, incorporating risk management and relapse prevention strategies
- Provide individual and/or group therapy sessions
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with state laws and facility guidelines
- Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and nursing staff
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, treatment progress, and discharge summaries
- Promote a patient-centered, respectful, and evidence-based approach to mental healthcare
What You Bring:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing (required)
- Current NP license in New Jersey
- Certification in Psychiatry or Mental Health
- Prescriptive authority with current DEA and CDS
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- BLS certification (required)
