Job summary

Vivent Health in Wisconsin is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Psych NP) to deliver comprehensive psychiatric care to patients living with HIV. The role works independently and with an interdisciplinary team to address medical and social needs within our Behavioral Health and Psychiatry program.

Candidates should have a Master’s in nursing, state NP licensure with psychiatric specialty, and experience in outpatient psychiatry.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Psychiatric care in an outpatient clinical setting preferred.
• Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner and a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner; board certification.
• Valid DEA license or ability to obtain DEA licensure.
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct psychiatry services including history, exam, and treatment planning.
• Order and interpret labs and diagnostics as needed.
• Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies where lawful.
• Document care in Epic EHR.
• Refer patients to internal and external supportive services.
• Follow clinic protocols and procedures.
• Engage in ongoing professional development.

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Psych NP) is a vital member of our healthcare team that provides comprehensive psychiatric care to patients living with HIV. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works independently as well as in collaboration with a variety of staff including Psychiatrists, medical providers and behavioral health therapists to diagnose and manage patients’ psychiatric and behavioral health care problems. In this role, you will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary health care team in addressing both the medical and social needs of our patients. This role requires strong clinical skills, empathy, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to a diverse patient population. Participation in the development, expansion, and maintenance of the Vivent Health Behavioral Health and Psychiatry program is expected.

• Provide direct psychiatry services to people accessing the Vivent Health Center. Care includes, but is not limited to a comprehensive psychiatry history, exam, assessment and development of a treatment plan. Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic studies as needed.
• Prescribe or recommend pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies including controlled substances as the law permits.
• Document treatment services provided or recommended in the Epic EHR.
• Assess patient needs for additional internal (e.g., case management) and external services. Refer and assist patients to ensure access to additional supportive services.
• Follow clinic protocols and procedures in providing and documenting services.
• Continually update own knowledge of Psychiatry and HIV/AIDS through reading, conference attendance, lectures and other educational opportunities.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research projects, and continuing education activities to enhance clinical practice and patient outcomes.
• Adhere to all relevant legal and ethical standards.
• Perform any and all other duties assigned by the Psychiatry Program Director and/or Chief Medical Officer.
• Adhere to all agency policies, including but not limited to Confidentiality, Employee Handbook, Health Care Corporate Compliance Plan, Standards of Conduct, training, and other relevant policies.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Required and preferred knowledge and experiences to succeed.

• Education:
• Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program.
• Work Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Psychiatric care in an outpatient clinical setting preferred.
• Experience working in HIV/AIDS care, LGBT+ care and/or substance use treatment preferred, but not required.
• Licensure/Certification:
• Current state licensure (and any adjacent states as needed) and board certification as a Nurse Practitioner and a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (e.g ANCC, AANP).
• Valid DEA license or the ability to obtain DEA licensure.
• Soft Skills:
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to providing integrated and patient-centered care with compassion and respect.
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant technology.
• Additional Preferred Qualifications:
• HIV experience in a not-for-profit environment.

Starting at $ $135,000 (Depending on Experience)

The final salary will be determined based on factors such as market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications. Please note that it is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range.
