Job summary

Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center (DDPC) seeks a second-level professional nurse to provide medical and psychiatric nursing care in a hospital facility. You will oversee unit work, administer medications, train staff, and document patient progress under limited supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
• RN license (Maine) or eligible to practice nursing.
• One year of professional nursing experience if graduating from an accredited school of nursing.

Responsibilities

• Plans and oversees unit nursing care for patients in accordance with nursing practices.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and orders medicines and equipment.
• Administers medications and treatments in a timely manner.
• Orients and trains student nurses and paraprofessionals in nursing methods and care.
• Writes patient progress reports and maintains medical records.
• Assesses emergencies and takes appropriate action to ensure patient safety.
