Job summary

Ohio Department of Behavioral Health is seeking a Nurse Supervisor to provide leadership and oversight of nursing staff in a behavioral health hospital setting.

Responsibilities include rounds, care plan reviews, incident report follow-up, and delivering clear reports to Nurse Executives. This is an hourly, full‑time exempt role with after-hours AOD duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • RN license in Ohio is required.
  • 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience or equivalent in providing nursing services to persons with developmental disabilities.
  • 3 months training or 3 months experience in employee training & development.
  • 3 courses or 9 months experience in public relations.
  • 3 courses or 9 months experience in counseling.

  • Provide general and direct supervision of nursing staff, ensuring adherence to standards of care.
  • Conduct rounds in residential units and review nursing care plans for accuracy.
  • Review incident reports, codes, medication errors, falls, and related to mechanical support devices or seclusion/restraint.
  • Prepare and deliver written and verbal reports to Nurse Executives regarding operations, staffing, and patient care.
  • Serve as Administrator on Duty for the facility during after-hours as needed.

What You’ll Do At DBH

Northwest Ohio Behavioral Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Supervisor to join our team. This role provides leadership and oversight to nursing staff while ensuring high-quality patient care in a behavioral health hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide general and direct supervision of nursing staff, ensuring consistent adherence to standards of care.
  • Conduct regular rounds in residential units and review nursing care plan documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Review & follow up on Incident Reports, Codes, Medication Error Reports, Falls, and reports related to Mechanical Support Devices or Seclusion/Restraint.
  • Prepare and deliver clear written & verbal reports to Nurse Executives regarding clinical operations, staffing, and patient care issues.
  • Serve as Administrator on Duty (AOD) for entire facility during after-hours shifts as needed, providing leadership and operational support.

This is an hourly position and is exempt from the bargaining units, with a pay range of 15 on the E1 Exempt Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are 6:00PM-6:30AM.

Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.

Position Qualifications

Requires current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code; 24 mos. exp. in psychiatric nursing or delivery of nursing services to persons with developmental disabilities; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in employee training & development; 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in public relations; 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in counseling.

OR The equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience requirements, but not for the mandated licensure.
