DUTIES: Under the direction of the Psych/DD Nurse Manager, performs general nursing and psychiatric care, including the administration of physician ordered medication and treatments; Assists in physical examinations; obtains and records vital signs.Documents in the medical record the administration of medication and treatments and other pertinent observations pursuant to a client’s health status.Observes, evaluates and records client behavior and psychiatric symptoms; Assists in feeding, grooming and self care.Evaluates client and staff injuries and administers and records first aid as indicated.Responds to medical emergencies to administer life-saving measures, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation.Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team, including in collaboration with the client’s physician the completion of a functional client health needs assessment and nursing plan of care pursuant to client health conditions for those clients in assigned caseload.Develops, implements and evaluates client self medication programs.Provides health teaching to family and clients as indicated.Assists in orienting and training new nursing employees.Conducts and participates in In-Service training sessions.Provides clinical oversight to Licensed Practical Nurses who are assigned during same working hours.Provides written input upon Unusual Incident Reports. Complete nursing department shift reports of client health conditions so as to ensure continuity of care.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SPECIAL EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of professional nursing procedures; psychiatric or developmentally disabled nursing*; employee training & development*; state & federal regulations, policies & procedures as related to nursing; public relations*, counseling*.Skill in operation of medical equipment.Ability to deal with some abstract but mostly concrete variables; write meaningful, concise & accurate reports; demonstrates physical fitness.*Developed after employment
QualificationsRequires current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code.
Supplemental Information1:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. 4 days per week. Every other weekend off.
$33.45 per hour with the first increase in 180 days to $35.07
RNs can receive an additional increase every July 1stper the current 1199 bargaining unit contract.
