Job summary

Adventist Health Vallejo seeks a committed Psychiatric Technician to deliver direct and indirect care under a Registered Nurse's direction. You will assist in assessing patient needs, support therapeutic activities, and document observations, ensuring safety and comfort for children, adolescents and adults in a psychiatric setting.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, with preferred Associate's/Technical degree and two years' experience in acute or long-term mental health care.

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent required
• Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent preferred
• Two years' experience in acute or long-term mental healthcare hospital preferred
• Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse (LVN/LPN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) required
• TEAM or CPI training/certification required

Responsibilities

• Uses de-escalation techniques and less restrictive interventions; maintains safety.
• Processes admissions, discharges, and intake interviews; notes patient data.
• Observes and documents psychiatric symptoms, vital signs, and responses.
• Administers medications per physician orders and coordinates with pharmacy staff.
• Collaborates with RN, patients, families, and care team in planning care.
