Job summary

Adventist Health Vallejo seeks a Psychiatric Technician to provide direct and indirect care for patients in a per diem capacity. You will work under an RN, assist with assessments, and support therapeutic activities across age groups in a psychiatric setting.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, and licensure as LVN/LPN or LPT is required; TEAM or CPI and BLS are also mandatory. Prior mental health experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent required.
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience preferred.
• Two years' experience in acute or long-term mental healthcare hospital preferred.
• Licensed Psychiatric Technician licensure preferred.
• LVN/LPN or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license required.
• Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) or TEAM-A or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Uses de-escalation techniques and less restrictive interventions when providing nursing care.
• Processes admissions and discharges, and completes intake interviews and orientation as needed.
• Observes, documents and reports on patient condition and response to care.
• Interacts with patients, families and staff to ensure safe, effective care.
• Administers medications according to physician orders and coordinates with pharmacy staff.
