Responsibilities

• Liaises between the hospital and the Office of the Public Defender (OPD) and the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH).
• Ensures dockets are updated weekly and helps families testify at hearings when necessary.
• Facilitates weekly hearings and represents Northwest Hospital during hearings and communications with OPD and OAH to stay compliant with COMAR regulations for involuntarily admitted patients.
• Assesses patient insurance/financial status to support discharge planning.
• Maintains log of post-hospital care referrals, providers, contacts, and related information.
• Serves as liaison between attending psychiatrists, social workers, and external reviewers.
• Provides administrative support by tracking departmental statistics and maintaining system reports; performs general clerical and receptionist duties.
