Job summary

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in College Hill is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist for the Psychiatry Float Pool. This role is part-time (0.5 FTE) with rotating day/evening shifts and 20 hours per week.

You will lead group programs, implement token economies, provide direct patient care within an interdisciplinary team, and document observations to support crisis management and discharge planning.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least two years of related work experience.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Milieu Management: Create a safe, stable, and nurturing environment; implement token economy to reinforce positive behaviors; support patients with severe psychiatric difficulties; respond to crises using CI techniques.
• Plan of Care: Implement individualized care plans; provide group and individual activities; monitor observation status.
• Group Programming: Lead structured group programming and engage patients, adjusting to developmental needs.
• Therapeutic Relationships: Build rapport while maintaining boundaries; use trauma-informed communication.
• Documentation: Complete shift notes, incident reports, safety checks, and handoff documentation.
