Job summary

Georgetown Behavioral is hiring PRN Registered Nurses to deliver general and psychiatric nursing care to patients hospitalized for treatment of psychiatric or emotional disorders, supporting our program philosophy and safety by following clinical guidelines as part of our treatment team.

This role offers 12‑hour shifts (7am–7pm or 7pm–7am) with duties including direct patient care, medication supervision, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, intake assessments, care planning, and accurate

Qualifications

• ADN or BSN from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Texas RN license in good standing; CPR/BLS preferred.
• SAMA certification required; pass provided CPR course within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum of 2 years clinical experience, preferably in behavioral health.
• Must be 21 years old or older.
• Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
• Knowledge of patient rights and mental health regulations; psychopharmacy knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to patients, including supervising medication schedules and evaluating progress.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary professionals to determine and provide the best possible care.
• Maintain a safe environment on the unit.
• Provide social support and encourage participation in groups and therapies.
• Conduct intake assessments to gather case history and plan nursing care.
• Make nursing diagnoses and advise on treatment options.
• Consult with psychiatrists and staff in designing treatment plans.
• Administer and document medications and reactions; arrange further medical attention as needed.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate records.
• Assist in crisis intervention and ensure patient safety.
