Job summary

Riverside Health System in Hampton, Virginia seeks a registered nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care within the Emergency Services Complex. You will assess and plan patient care, implement treatments, and evaluate outcomes under supervision of the Nurse Manager and Director.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate total nursing care for assigned patients.
• Delegate and prioritize tasks to ensure quality patient care and timely responses.
• Maintain a safe care environment by following RHS policies and regulatory requirements.
• Complete clinical documentation consistently per RHS standards.
• Demonstrate SBAR communication with physicians and team as applicable.
• Respond to emergencies and assist in patient throughput within the facility.

Overview

Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and the Director and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the total nursing care of assigned patients. The RN may work in a variety of settings in the Emergency Services Complex and roles within Riverside Health System. The RN utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making to create a care plan for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. Responsible for supervising and delegating non-professional personnel working directly with him/her to ensure optimum patient care. Must demonstrate competence in dealing with age related needs of the specific patient populations served in the Emergency Services units/departments. Works under the direction of leadership and a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive range of services or clinical care associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health system and facility goals and strategic plans.

• Ability to delegate and prioritize tasks to facilitate quality patient care and ensure all patient care needs are met. Able to recognize and respond to emergency situations.
• Maintains a safe patient care environment by complying with RHS policies/procedures/regulatory requirements that support National Safety Patient Goals and Quality Initiatives. Recognizes and reports variances and provides resolutions.
• Demonstrate flexibility and sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput throughout the facility. Responds to patient needs timely.
• Accurately completes all required clinical documentation consistently per RHS standards.
• Demonstrates assessment ability by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population served Behavioral Health ED, specialty unit).
• Recognizes and responds to variances of patient care/ condition and appropriately notifies physician and team, utilizing SBAR process when applicable.

Licenses and Certifications

• CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days(Required) and
