The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important roles within our department. LOCATION OF POSITION

POSITION DUTIES
The main purpose of this position is to provide substance abuse assessment and/or placement consultation to selected offenders under the jurisdiction of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, Division of Parole and Probation.
- Plan and coordinate the work of Certified Supervised and Associate Counselors-Alcohol and Drug and related support staff. Review case material to assure compliance with standards and procedures for providing addiction services
- Conduct regular and comprehensive reviews of all unit staff to determine their level of performance, including each assessment to ensure it meets Offender Services standards
- Responsible for the data collection and data submission on necessary unit functions, including communication with other agencies (e.g., MPC, case management, BHSB, private community providers, etc.), as required by Offender Services’ protocol
- Assist in planning in-service training activities for Certified Supervised and Associate Counselors-Alcohol and Drug, and/or guidance to staff on various assessment skills
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Professional Counselors-Alcohol and Drug.
Experience: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Professional Counselors- Alcohol and Drug.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
- In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07, candidates placed in this classification must be either certified by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Professional Counselor-Alcohol and Drug.
- Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
Special Requirements
- Candidates must possess graded courses in management and supervision as defined by the Abuse Administration (ADAA), Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. This training must be approved by ADAA. Inquiries concerning this training must be addressed to the Office of Education and Training for Addiction Services, 55 Wade Avenue, Catonsville, Maryland 21228.
- Employees are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

- Personal Leave - new State employees are awarded six (6) personnel days annually (prorated based on start date)
