Job Summary

This position provides primary care and treatment to a group of patients in a clinic or hospital unit. The role may require accessing and administering medications within the scope of practice and according to State Law.

Responsibilities

1. Assesses the physical condition of patients through examinations and medical histories.
2. Formulates medical plans and prognoses based on patient conditions.
3. Consults with physicians regarding healthcare plans and treatments.
4. Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests.
5. Performs selected invasive procedures within validated competence.
6. Initiates and recommends drug therapies and other treatments per protocols.
7. Maintains accurate medical records and documentation.
8. Participates in quality improvement activities.
9. Provides counseling to patients and families about health and illness.
10. Handles emergency care planning and implementation.

Required Qualifications

• Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Utah.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications such as ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by the department.
• Utah State prescriptive privileges.
• Master's degree in Nursing or equivalent, with national certification.
• Credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
• Immunization compliance per CDC standards and hospital policy.
