University of Utah Hospital is seeking a Cardiovascular Perfusionist to support a high-volume cardiac program. The team handles 1000+ cardiac cases yearly, including CABG, valve, LVAD, transplantation and complex aortic procedures.

We are looking for a strong team player, hard worker, and anindividual with a desire to help the program succeed. TheUniversity of Utah Hospital performs approximately 1000+ cardiaccases per year. We are involved in a wide variety of cardiac casesincluding, but not limited to: CABG, valve, LVAD, RVAD, heart andlung transplantation, NRP, complex aortic cases, PulmonaryThromboendarterectomy, adult congenital, etc. Perfusion alsoprovides services related to auto-transfusion, component therapy,coagulation testing, TAVR's and HIPEC. There is minimal involvementwith ECMO and occasionally Intra-aortic Balloon pumps. We areaffiliated with the University of Utah School of Medicine which hasa rich history of providing excellent medical training and providesthe opportunity to teach and train upcoming perfusion studentsthrough its Masters level Perfusion Program. All clinicalperfusionists will be part of the clinical education of thesestudents and may also have the opportunity to teach didactically inthe classroom. On-call responsibilities during the week, as well asweekends, and holidays are divided amongst the team.
EducationGraduated from anaccredited school of perfusion or have been trained andsubsequently certified by the ABCP.
Must meet the requirements set by the ABCP for continuing educationin addition to other requirements as set forth by the hospital and/or perfusion department.
CredentialsMust be certified by the ABCP,or in the process of becoming certified.
PersonalMust be in good physical and mentalhealth. Must be able to push heavy equipment and lift or movesupplies. Must be able to work in high stress and emergentsituations. Must be able to maintain solid interpersonalrelationships. Must be able to arrive at the hospital within 45minutes of being called.
ProfessionalMust be able to work in highlystressful conditions with exposure to blood and blood products,needles, sharp instruments, possible exposure to infectious diseaseand blood-borne pathogens, as well as exposure to anestheticagents. The individual must be able to work unpredictable hours andassume call responsibilities as assigned. Must be able to performduties as an individual as well as part of a team.
EducationMustmaintain their personal credentialing and licensure set forth bythe ABCP, state, and employer.
