State of Georgia is seeking a PS: Beh Health/Counselor (WL) in Macon to provide counseling and support to individuals under community supervision. You will develop treatment plans, coordinate services, and document progress in case notes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in counseling or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Certification as an addiction counselor (GACA) or equivalent certification.
  • Ability to obtain licensure or credentialing as required by the agency.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel with emphasis on prevention and behavior modification for individuals under supervision in the criminal justice system.
  • Coordinate identified services addressing employment, housing, education, mental health, life skills, and substance use.
  • Collect information about individuals under supervision through assessments, interviews, observations, and drug screening.
  • Counsel individuals in individual and group sessions to develop coping skills and recover from dependencies.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans; maintain confidentiality of records.
  • Monitor and record progress according to measurable goals; document case notes and reports.
  • Facilitate substance use and cognitive programming; travel and non-traditional hours may be required.

Act as an advocate to resolve crisis situationsCollect information about individuals under supervision through assessments, interviews, observations, and random drug screening.Counsel individuals under supervision in individual and group sessions to help develop coping skills and recover from dependencies.Develop and implement treatment plansMaintain confidentiality of records relating to the client's treatmentMonitor, evaluate, and record individual progress according to measurable goals described in the treatment plan.Prepare, document, and maintain all case notes, treatment records, and reports.Facilitate substance use and/or cognitive programming, based on the needs of each circuit. Non-traditional hours may be required to ensure program delivery.
