Job summary

CUNY's LaGuardia Community College in New York City seeks a Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs to lead its academic enterprise, including programs, departments, the library, curriculum, instruction, and AI-enabled learning initiatives.

The Provost reports to the President and collaborates with Chairs and faculty to shape strategy, advance the college's 2030 plan, support innovative teaching, ensure accreditation, and manage resources to promote student success.

Qualifications

• PhD or terminal degree required.
• Extensive experience in executive academic administration.
• Experience leading large, unionized organizations.
• Proven record of teaching, service, scholarship, and professional accomplishments.
• Strong fiscal and resource management skills.
• Commitment to shared governance and inclusivity.

Responsibilities

• Lead faculty and academic personnel matters, including recruitment, appointment, workload, evaluation, tenure and promotion, professional development, and succession planning.
• Develop and evaluate an academic plan aligned with the college's 2030 Strategic Plan and student-success goals.
• Encourage innovative teaching across in-person, online, and hybrid modalities and support instructional technology and AI.
• Oversee academic program development, review, and accreditation.
• Identify opportunities for new degrees, certificates, and programs responsive to labor-market demand.
• Lead efforts to strengthen Liberal Arts programs and transfer pathways to four-year colleges.
• Oversee accreditation and compliance activities and ensure policies meet requirements.
• Support faculty scholarship, research, and sponsored programs.
• Manage academic resources, personnel, and budgets strategically.
