Job summary

GBMC HealthCare is seeking an entry-level Sterile Processing Technician in Baltimore, MD. Under supervision, you will learn all sterile processing tasks and assist Sterile Processing Specialists to support surgical teams.

Expect to complete 400 practicum hours within the first three months, maintain instrument integrity, and uphold infection control standards in a fast-paced facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of didactic portion of Sterile Processing Program.
• Provisional CRCST Certification (HSPA) preferred.
• Ability to follow directions and complete required tasks.

Responsibilities

• Learn layout and functions of sterile processing department: decontamination, prep and pack, case carts, assembly, sterilization.
• Identify and inspect surgical instruments for missing or malfunctioning parts.
• Assist in cleaning and breaking down case carts; maintain documentation for processed loads.

Under direct supervision of leadership and/or preceptor in the department, cares, handles and stores instruments, supplies and equipment necessary for surgery and processed goods for redistribution throughout the Medical Center. Assists Sterile Processing Specialists with various daily tasks and assignments.
