Job summary

Manhasset Public Schools seeks a qualified individual to supervise all cleaning and maintenance activities in a school building. The role includes assigning tasks, supervising staff, and ensuring operations during events, with responsibility for HVAC and air conditioning systems.

The position is a full-time, twelve-month appointment with hours from 6:30am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. New York fingerprint clearance and Nassau County Civil Service approval are required; MESPA contract governs

Qualifications

• Three years of satisfactory experience in building cleaning and maintenance activities.
• Experience supervising custodial and maintenance personnel.
• Fingerprints clearance and Civil Service approval required; Nassau County resident.
• Salary as per MESPA contract; full-time, 12 months; hours 6:30am–3:30pm, Mon–Fri.

Responsibilities

• Assigns tasks to cleaners, custodians, and maintainers and supervises their work.
• Supervises building operations during school events.
• Supervises operation and maintenance of heating systems (low-pressure boiler, hot air furnace, or hot water boiler).
• Makes periodic inspections of maintenance activities.
• Maintains records of time and material usage and prepares progress reports.
• Interviews and recommends hiring of subordinate personnel.
• Requisitions, receives, and distributes building cleaning supplies.
• Supervises operation and maintenance of air conditioning systems.
• Assists with maintenance and custodial tasks as required.

Job description

The successful candidate has a demonstrated ability to supervise all the cleaning and maintenance activities in a school building.

Responsibilities:

• Assigns tasks to cleaners, custodians, and maintainers and supervises their work
• Supervises building operations during school events.
• Supervises the operation and maintenance of a low-pressure boiler, hot air furnace, or hot water boiler heating system.
• Makes periodic inspections of maintenance activities.
• Maintains records of time and material usage, and prepares progress reports of on-going activities.
• Interviews and recommends the hiring of subordinate personnel.
• Requisitions, receives, and distributes building cleaning supplies.
• Supervises the operation and maintenance of an air conditioning system.
• Assists with maintenance and custodial tasks, as required.

New York State fingerprint clearance and Civil Service approval required. This will be a provisional civil service appointment. Candidate will be required to take the Nassau Country Civil Service Head Custodian II exam and be reachable. Must be a Nassau County resident. Three years of satisfactory experience in building cleaning and maintenance activities, including one year supervising both custodial and maintenance personnel. Salary as per MESPA contract. This is a full-time, 12-month position with hours of 6:30am – to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.
