The Job

The Provider Relations Lead is responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical groups, primary care physicians, specialists, hospitals, and ancillary providers. The role may focus on specific provider types or regions but requires flexibility to meet business needs. Key responsibilities include onboarding, provider education, relationship management, issue resolution, and collaboration with internal teams to ensure a positive provider experience and support clinical programs and growth initiatives.

You Will
  • Work independently on complex issues, serving as the primary contact for providers and acting as a liaison with internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with Contracting to facilitate onboarding and develop a comprehensive onboarding playbook.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with providers in your designated region.
  • Conduct provider orientations, ongoing education, and relationship-building activities both virtually and onsite.
  • Visit provider offices regularly within your geographic area.
  • Address escalated provider concerns promptly.
  • Participate in data-driven meetings with providers and internal teams.
  • Create educational materials and presentations for provider engagement.
  • Support performance monitoring and address deficiencies through training.
  • Coordinate data analysis and interpret results.
  • Assist in evaluating network adequacy and provider access.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements across the network.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, or mentoring as needed.
  • Contribute to internal initiatives and process improvements to enhance provider experience.
  • Align efforts with SCAN’s vision and goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a health plan or medical group environment.
  • Knowledge of provider and hospital contract language.
  • Experience with risk arrangements is preferred.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel within the region.
  • Ability to independently resolve provider issues and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ownership mentality and collaborative approach.
