Job summary

Slate is seeking a Vehicle Engineering Technician, Prototype in the United States to support the development and build of engineering test vehicles. You will work with the Engineering team to diagnose issues, fabricate parts, and maintain prototype builds and fleet vehicles.

The role requires 8+ years in prototype engineering, hands-on high voltage EV experience, CAD and Polarion familiarity, and a related degree or certification. This position reports to the Senior Technician, Garage Services.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or automotive vocational program completed.
• 8+ years as a Prototype Engineering Technician, preferably with Hybrid or EVs.
• Hands-on high voltage EV experience and diagnostics.
• Experience with CAD and Polarion preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and build of engineering test vehicles.
• Collaborate with Engineering to test solutions to technical problems.
• Inspect and modify existing designs and prototypes.
• Utilize CAD to inspect designs and implement feedback from Engineers.
• Conduct experiments, diagnostics, calibrations, and investigations under Engineers.
• Track open issues, coordinate meetings to close issues.
• Collect data and create detailed reports on prototype progress and concerns.
• Fabricate components as necessary and maintain shop tools.
• Maintain a clean shop and company fleet vehicles.
