Torrey Holistics seeks a skilled machinist to turn prints into precise metal components. You will set up, operate, and adjust conventional and special-purpose machines, translating blueprints into tooling and sequences.

You will verify critical dimensions with micrometers and gauges, maintain process stability, and collaborate with engineering to resolve tooling or tolerance challenges while sustaining safety and productivity on the shop floor.

Qualifications

  • Blueprint reading for IDs, ODs, planar surfaces, and basic geometries.

Be the go-to maker for precision metal partsIf you thrive on turning prints into perfectly machined components, this role is for you. You’ll own setups, machining, and verification on conventional and special-purpose equipment while partnering with engineering and production to keep quality and throughput on point.

Role scope

Produce precise metallic components by setting up, operating, and adjusting conventional and special-purpose machines. Translate blueprints, sketches, manuals, specifications, and sample parts into actionable sequences and tooling setups. Plan and execute feeds, speeds, coolant, depth, and angle of cut; run trials and verify results. Verify every critical dimension using micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks. Diagnose and correct out-of-tolerance conditions; maintain process stability and part quality. Create simple part sketches/specifications from general descriptions when needed. Collaborate with engineers and production teams to resolve machining and assembly challenges. Adhere to shop safety standards and complete routine preventive maintenance; coordinate repairs.

Daily toolkit

Machine shop theory, shop math, and layout techniques. Workholding and tooling selection: fixtures, cutters, attachments, and accessories for saws, mills, grinders, burning, and drilling equipment. Inspection practices anchored in GD&T and advanced gauging.

What you bring

High School Diploma or Equivalent. 5+ years of manufacturing experience. Ability to edit CNC programs as needed. Ability to follow simple written and verbal instructions. Blueprint reading for IDs, ODs, planar surfaces, and basic geometries. Proven ability to hold specified tolerances; comfortable with micrometers and depth mics. Lift 50 lbs regularly; able to work in tight spaces and to climb, balance, stoop, and kneel. Background with stainless and tool steel alloys preferred. Work setting Expect periods of standing, sitting, walking, reaching, climbing/balancing, stooping/kneeling, talking/hearing, and frequent hand use with tools and equipment. Vision: close, distance, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Overtime may be required as workloads dictate (weekdays and weekends). Primary duties occur in an office environment with required visits to the production site.
